Two teachers from The English School of Asturias, Harvey Tudor and David Woodrow, recently took part in the 48th Annual Conference of the National Association of British Schools in Spain, held in Sitges from 5 to 8 March, one of the most important educational events for British schools in Spain.
Representing our school as part of Dukes Education, both teachers attended this educational event with the aim of keeping up to date with the latest pedagogical trends, sharing experiences with fellow professionals, and exploring innovative tools to help further enhance teaching at our school.
As David Woodrow explains: “Representing The English School of Asturias as a Dukes School made Harvey Tudor and I extremely proud, as we were given the responsibility to learn with passion from some of the best minds in education and explore the most innovative tools and platforms available to us today.”
During the conference, our teachers took part in a range of workshops and sessions delivered by leading international figures in the field of education, including:
- Middle Leadership – What Works and Why?, by David Harris
- Developing Curious Classrooms, by Dr. Matthew McFall
- Beyond the Hype: AI, Equity and the Human Purpose of Education, by Mark Anderson
- Forget School: Why Children Are Succeeding on Their Own Terms, by Martin Illingworth
- One Step Beyond: Curriculum Design and the Age of AI
- Learning Without Borders in Creative Education, by Matt Moseley and Marc Mollica
- Education Powered by the Sun, by Danielle Parker
The experience enabled our teachers to reflect on new methodologies, the impact of artificial intelligence in education, and the importance of fostering more curious, creative and inclusive classrooms.
As David Woodrow highlights, the main purpose of taking part in this type of event is to put what has been learned into practice within our educational community: “We absorbed everything like a sponge with the honest intention of relaying what we learnt to our school.”
This type of initiative forms part of the commitment of The English School of Asturias to the continuous professional development of its teaching staff and the ongoing improvement of its educational project, ensuring that our pupils benefit from the most up-to-date and effective pedagogical practices.
